Licensed Clinical Supervisor - Santa Clara County Programs

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in clinical work with adult clients in an outpatient setting; experience with providing clinical supervision, management and leadership; and has knowledge of Short-Doyle Medical regulations. In this position you will be able to work with a passionate and mission driven Leadership Team with diverse skill sets. The Clinical Supervisor provides clinical supervision, training,  and support to staff and interns within the Adult Mental Health programs in Santa Clara County, and lends support to the Adult Substance Use Treatment programs and to the Youth Behavioral Health programs within the Santa Clara County operation as needed. This position is responsible for ensuring that all appropriate professional standards, licensing/certification and clinical contract requirements are met. The incumbent is also responsible for assuring Santa Clara County programs and services are culturally proficient/responsive and client-centered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensures treatment is in accordance with contracts clinical expectations. 
  • Will work with Directors and Managers in ensuring compliance with internal and external contract requirements including data integrity, clinical records review/utilization reviews, and clinical performance measures.  
  • Participation in the recommendations, design and implementation of evidence based models and best practices. 
  • Handles aspects of management, including direct day-to-day clinical supervision and mentoring of clinical staff. 
  • Expected to know the pulse of staff and help troubleshoot issues such as morale, turnover, etc.  
  • Will lead or co-lead the AARS/HR360 – Santa Clara County internal Clinical Supervisors Meeting at least monthly. 
  •  Provides regular on-site trainings (didactic) for employees and interns. 
  • Must be available after hours to respond to facility or clinical emergencies, outstanding crisis or events precipitating an incident report.  - Will be responsible for answering the after-hours crisis line on a rotating basis with other BBS registered or licensed staff.
  • Responsible for the development and supervision of the Adult Department Intern Program in SCC. 
  • Takes the lead on Quality Records Reviews and Peer Chart Review  processes. 

Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 Required

  • California state license (post 2 years) in psychology, social work, marriage and family therapist with a graduate degree in psychology, social work, or counseling  (*Those applicants close to 2 years post licensure may be considered.)
  • Completion of required Clinical Supervision Certification per BBS, if applicable
  • At least five years of experience working in a behavioral health setting
  • Valid California driver’s license
  • First Aid Certified within 60 days of employment
  • CPR Certified within 60 days of employment

 Desired

  •  Licensed professional with additional certification in Addiction Counseling

 Knowledge
 Required:

  • Knowledge of and experience with evidence-based practices, preferably motivational interviewing, Seeking Safety, the MORS assessment, Transformational Care Planning, the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) assessment, TF-CBT and harm reduction models preferred
  • Knowledge of substance use and mental health best practices
  • Culturally competent and able to work with a diverse population
  • Experience working successfully with issues of substance abuse, mental health, criminal background, and other potential barriers to economic self sufficiency
  • Experience in Medi-Cal procedures including billing and documentation
  • Demonstrated understanding and appreciation of the needs of communities of color in the context of behavioral health
  • Experience working with adolescent populations

Desired:

  • Knowledge of the Santa Clara County Department of Behaviorial Health (Mental Health and Substance Use Treatment Divisions) structure, policies, and systems as they pertain to mental health service delivery
  • Experience in program planning, program development and implementation, and program evaluation

  •  Experience working with criminal justice population
  •  Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word Outlook and internet applications
  •  Ability to enter data into various electronic systems while maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the data
