Administrative Assistant/Patient Advocate

The ideal candidate has public health experience with strong customer service skills in working with people with histories of homelessness and addiction and enjoys being part of a multi-disciplinary team while helping to make meaningful changes in the lives of many.  Sound interesting?  Below you will find a more detailed description of some of the duties and requirements for this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitors and creates appointment access to medical, dental and behavioral services for the safety net patients
  • Creates warm and inviting environment by greeting patients and displaying excellent customer service and empathy.
  • Collects and verifies insurance billing eligibility
  • Collect and documents patient information into electronic medical record system
  • Answers phones, sorts faxes
  • Links patients to resources through HealthRIGHT 360 and in the community.

Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Exhibits professional demeanor, and can handle sensitive and confidential information and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong organizational , interpersonal, listening, speaking and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with all levels and types of employees, management, clients and guests in an approachable and welcoming manner.
  • Ability to multitask and work well independently, under pressure in a fast paced environment.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Commitment to working with diverse communities, including communities of color, homeless populations, users of illegal substances, HIV/AIDs patients and persons with mental health concerns.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Compensation: $18.00-$20.00
