On-Call Counselor - Serenity House

Job Overview

If so, HealthRIGHT 360 is looking to fill an On-Call Counselor position in San Mateo! Serenity House is a new, adult short-term, trauma-informed, crisis residential program. We serve those who are currently experiencing a psychiatric crisis. The short-term residential stay is designed to assist clients with stabilizing the current crisis and returning to the community with referrals. Sound interesting? Key Responsibilities

  • Provides learning experience opportunities and offers clinical support to assist clients in meeting their treatment goals
  • Assists in connecting clients to both internal and external resources based on their treatment needs and follows up on the progress/status
  • Facilitates groups, community meetings and teaches independent living skills
  • Performs crisis interventions and communicates/ coordinates with the treatment team as unforeseen situations arise
  • Documents client updates and incidents in the facility log daily
  • Performs periodic house rounds to ensure and maintain the safety and security of the facility
  • Documents/ logs clients belongings, ensures client medications are securely stored and properly accounted for
  • Assists with admissions and discharges as needed
  • Accompanies clients to offsite appointments and transports to recovery support meetings in the community
  • Attends required trainings and meetings
  • Assists with and facilitates client celebrations and special events
  • May work weekends and holidays as needed
  • Available for on-call duties as needed

Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field (Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, etc.)
  • Experience working with people in extreme states; or person’s experiencing psychosis, or suicidality, or other forms of profound distress
  • Culturally competent and able to work with a diverse population
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word Outlook and internet applications
  • Experience working successfully with issues of substance abuse, mental health, criminal background, and other potential barriers to economic self sufficiency

Desired

  • Master’s Degree in related field 
  • Direct experience working client’s in extreme states
  • Direct experience working with high-intensity environments
  • Lived experience of either being diagnosed, or systematized, or hospitalized
  • Training in deeper listening skills, such as reflective listening and Motivational Interviewing
  • Demonstrable ability to convey accurate empathy
  • Knowledge of DBT, CBT, MI and trauma based treatment highly desirable
  • Experience navigating 5150 or emergency/crisis procedures
Compensation: TBD
Type: Hourly/ Non-exempt
