Clinical Director - Prototypes Pomona DMC

Job Overview

Prototypes' Pomona DMC is the flagship program for Prototypes and has been in the community for 35 years. The DMC residential program provides substance abuse and mental health services for women 18+ and their children and the Outpatient program serves women and men 18 years +. The Pomona DMC program employs 100 people and works closely with the Pomona DMH program to provide a continuum of services for low income/Medi-Cal population.  

The Clinical Director is responsible for clinical oversight of day to day program operations of HealthRIGHT 360’s Pomona Behavioral Health Programs. Provides training and leadership development to the Managers, Supervisors and Direct Service Staff. Responsible for critical balance between providing high quality, safe services, maximizing contract and other revenues and overall fiscal responsibility. Demonstrates ownership, leadership and strategic thinking. Able to motivate and inspire high performing teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understands Prototypes’ strategic vision and finds ways to implement and execute the vision at the treatment services level.
  • Ensures that all program development plans and activities are executed in keeping with the organization’s values, mission, vision and strategy.
  • Responsible for all facility related matters to ensure that program(s) operate efficiently and safely including writing policy and procedure to support best practice.
  • Develops and maintains policies and procedures as it relates to day to day program operations in collaboration with QI and EHR staff.
  • Translates individual funding and program requirements to the continuum of care model utilizing best clinical practice.
  • Responsible for setting and guiding clinical strategies and treatment philosophy for Prototypes direct service providers, including but not limited to employing a “whatever it takes” mentality.
  • Ensures that all supervisors and direct service staff provide strengths based, trauma informed, and culturally competent services.
  • Responsible for program decisions being guided by a client centered approach.
  • Responsible for ensuring that quality, cutting edge services are consistently delivered to clients including the maintenance of quality client records reflective of the level of care provided. 

Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Education Requirements: 

  • LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, or PsyD with license through Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) or the California Board of Psychology (CBP).


  • Minimum of three years’ experience providing supervision to direct service providers in comparable size agencies with similar clients.
  • Experience with efficient and effective treatment and management of clients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Knowledge of and experience with providing trauma informed services.
  • Strong computer skills, including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
