Job Overview

Slow-paced, friendly team concept kitchen. Position offers room to be creative on cuisines and styles.  Stress-free operations.  Must be able to work independently and capture all facility needs. Must be a team player.

Facility cook or chef with knowledge of American comfort food. Able to accommodate a variety of cooking skills and diets.

Key Responsibilities

Food Service Responsibilities: 

  • Follows production menu to ensure meals are well-balanced, nutritious, and appealing. Prepares daily meals and snacks. Ensures supplies are rotated weekly and takes other measures to maintain quality control, and that requested special diets are accommodated. Responsible for sanitation and daily cleaning.
  • Must be able to work independent and execute effective problem solving.
  • Maintains professional standards of hygiene and safety. Keeps work area and equipment clean. Responsible for kitchen equipment and controlling cutlery and cleaning chemicals.

Administrative Responsibilities:  

  • Ensures temperature logs for refrigerators and freezers are kept up to date.
  • Works with Chef on required weekly orders.
  • Must be able to follow a production menu and standard food pyramid on the concept of healthy food.
  • Must be creative and have knowledge of diversity of cuisines.

Oversight Responsibilities:   

  • Ensures agency policies, procedures, and practices are maintained at all times.  Able to Keep strong boundaries and follow set guidelines.
  • Must be organized and able to operate a standard kitchen, including lifting or stocking product up to 50 lbs. at times.  
  • Must be dependable with strong professional standards.
  • Occasionally execute small facility events, ceremonies, family style meals.
  • Able to manufacture preset meals for weekend staff to heat and serve.
  • Ability to adjust and understand emotionally challenged clients’ needs.

Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • 5 or more years professional experience as cook. 
  • Culinary school or culinary training a bonus bur not require.
  • Knowledge of ordering supplies.
  • Standard knowledge of nutrition and special dietary requirements.
  • Time Management skills.
  • Understanding FIFO policies and surface control equipment monitoring.
  • Computer literate.
Compensation: $18.00
Type: Hourly/ Non-exempt
