The ideal candidate has excellent time management skills and experience with shipping, recieving, and ordering food and kitchen supplies. In this position you will gain experience working for a non-profit organization providing care to the underserved populations. Sound interesting? NCSH operates a residential facility that serves up to 120 women (with capacity for up to 20 children under 5 years of age) seeking recovery from substance use disorders. We offer gender responsive, trauma informed, person-centered services and evidence based interventions. For clients with co-occurring mental illness, we provide integrated substance use and mental health services which treat both conditions as primary. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all food production is performed daily using safe food handling practices and meal schedules
  • Able to produce a diverse style cuisine that meet the needs of the population 
  • Able to work and communicate with a population of women and children
  • Ensure team work and client care is always at its highest level
  • Produce three daily meals and snacks while performing and teaching a crew of volunteer clients assigned to the kitchen

Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Current Food Handler's Certificate
  • Basic computer skills on Microsoft Office applications
  • Culinary school/Vocational Cooking school or experience in the culinary industry
  • Hands on cooking and operations experience
  • Maintain organization and strong time management skills 
  • Must be compassionate about food and the power of making a difference for mothers and children through positive guidance
  • Able to multi-task while performing daily operations
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred
