Director of Intern Training and Development

Job Overview

The Director of Intern Training and Development provides administrative and clinical oversight to the organization’s mental health and substance abuse training programs in San Francisco.  Responsibilities include maintaining liaison with various schools and training programs; recruiting and selecting graduate students;  planning welcoming and farewell events for each year group; assigning and orienting students to various organizational sites;  providing individual and group supervision; organizing a schedule of student case presentations; planning and conducting didactic and clinical trainings to staff and clients; ensuring student compliance with documentation and client tracking standards;  and providing written evaluations and student references.

Key Responsibilities

Management responsibilities:  Management responsibilities include planning and implementing student recruitment and selection strategies; developing and maintaining relationships with program training directors; correcting errors; and taking part in meetings and committees relevant to maintaining compliance with contracts and providing clinical services.

Supervisory responsibilities:  Supervisory responsibilities include providing individual and group supervision; providing crisis intervention consultation; co-signing treatment plans, progress notes, and other relevant clinical documentation; and providing written evaluations and student references. Responsibilities also include monitoring the clinical work of supervisees; maintaining appropriate supervision agreements and proof of hours; signing off on required paperwork for the California Board of Behavioral Sciences and the California Board of Psychology; completing staff and student evaluations and written recommendations; and assisting with crisis intervention, child and child/elder abuse reporting, and other urgent clinical matters. 

Training responsibilities:  Training responsibilities include planning weekly didactic trainings and conducting trainings on administrative procedures, clinical interventions and topics related to the delivery of mental health and substance abuse services. 

Compliance responsibilities:  Compliance responsibilities include ensuring the accuracy of student documentation; correcting errors in client/services tracking; and ensuring that students comply with confidentiality standards and other ethical guidelines. 

And, other duties as assigned.

Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Education and Experience

Required:

-Ph.D. or Psy.D. in psychology

-California licensed psychologist

-Five years clinical supervision experience

- Experience in working with people with co-occurring disorders

-Experience working in criminal justice populations

- Familiarity with cognitive-behavioral approaches

Background Clearance

Required:

-Must not be on active parole or probation 

Knowledge

Required:

-Culturally competent and able to work with a diverse population

-Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word Outlook and internet applications

-Experience working successfully with issues of substance abuse, mental health, criminal background, and other potential barriers to economic self sufficiency
