HealthRIGHT 360 is a rapidly growing non-profit agency located across 13 different counties in California. HealthRIGHT 360 provides an array of medical and behavioral health services to some of the most vulnerable populations, ranging from primary care, mental health services, detox, substance use disorder treatment in both residential and outpatient settings, and transitional services for the criminal justice population. HealthRIGHT 360’s primary care health clinics include Haight Ashbury Free Clinics (two locations), Lyon Martin Health Services, Women’s Community Clinic, Tenderloin Health Services, and a dental clinic.

The position will be working within the HR Department focusing on Labor Relations in particular with union grievances and issues their number one focus.

As the HealthRIGHT 360 Grievance Specialist, when a grievance is received, you are a key leader in preparing the materials to help sculpt a winning argument for the grievance meeting or mediation, etc.  You will be a key subject matter expert in helping HealthRIGHT 360 to implement and navigate its first CBA.  Grievances occur in any unionized environment and the following help the organization in preventing and preparing for grievances, and managing them once filed for a successful outcome.

Key Responsibilities

  • Is a key leader in ensuring Agency compliance with the collective bargaining agreement provisions.  Overseeing all union requests for information. Receives and processes grievances, and other labor inquiries and issues.
  • After gathering information upon receipt of a filed grievance and closely examining the initial investigation, may have to conduct a secondary investigation and review additional documentation to prepare a strong management response.  
  • Will work with the union for potential ways to resolve the grievance prior to hearing it at the formal grievance meeting.  
  • Will be one of the key management representatives at the various steps of the grievance meeting processes which are: Step 2 Grievance Meeting, Mediation and if mutually agreed to; Arbitration.
  • Is a leader in staying current and researching labor law issues, bargaining procedures, economic data, etc., to help drive the collective bargaining processes and keep the Agency compliant on any labor law updates.
  • Provides guidance and leadership to all HR Employee-Labor Relations Specialists and HR Business Partners in employee relations, labor relations, and other human resource areas especially as related and compliant with the CBA
  • Is an integral member of the Labor-Management Meetings helping to identify agenda topics to help maintain harmonious relations with the union and implement new ideas.   

 

Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated skills in effective use of mediation and conflict resolution techniques, practical application of employment law, and processes for influencing performance management.
  • Must be adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people.
  • Expert knowledge of labor law, collective bargaining agreements, and NLRA/NLRB operations, rules and regulations.
  • Ability to resolve problems, handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to maintain and update confidential information.
  • Demonstrated skills in effective use of mediation and conflict resolution techniques, practical application of employment law, and processes for influencing performance management.

Compensation: $75,000.00-$80,000.00
