Job Overview

The  Day Reporting Center-STEPS (Services To Enhance Parolee Success) program offers wrap around services out parolees transitioning back into the community. Our services include comprehensive needs assessments, substance use disorder treatment, case management, workshops and classes, connection to educational and employment resources, safe and supportive housing referrals, and other essential services to parolees in San Francisco.

The Job Developer provides employment services for our clients as part of their wholistic case management plan. Services provided by the Job Developer include writing and editing resumes and cover letters, providing one on one job search related counseling and support, facilitating employment related workshops, and maintaining resources for job seekers. The Job Developer also maintains and builds partnerships with other community base organizations and local governmental agencies in order to connect our clients to employment opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

The Job Developer at our Day Reporting Center:

  • Conducts a thorough intake with each client as they begin their job search to insure a supportive and appropriate job search plan is developed
  • Provides counseling and support around all stages of the job seeking process.
  • Facilitates a weekly morning meeting with all clients
  • Teaches interviewing skills, job search skills, re-entry readiness skills and works with clients on soft skills as necessary
  • Writes an individualized resume with each client
  • Conducts mock interviews with clients and provides constructive feedback
  • Assists in cover letter and thank you note development
  • Ensures that each client’s employment goals are in line with the larger goal of economic self sufficiency
  • Assist parolee with assembling documents as necessary to legally work within California (e.g. California ID, Social Security Card, etc.)
  • Provides support and guidance to clients around disclosing appropriate information regarding past convictions and/or parole status to the employer

Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • BA or BS degree
  • Or High school diploma, or its equivalent, and a minimum of four years of experience as a Job Developer or similar position
  • Knowledge/experience in employment or career counseling
  • Knowledge/experience of challenges facing those involved in the criminal justice system
  • Experience teaching adults and/or facilitating workshops
  • First Aid Certified (within 30 days of employment)
  • CPR Certified (within 30days of employment)
  • Able to pass a background check and must not be on active parole or probation
Compensation: $18.82
Type: Hourly/ Non-exempt
