Job Overview

Medical Records Specialist is the liaison between the medical requester and HealthRIGHT 360 Agency. The Medical Records Specialist  is an integral part of the healthcare team to support & ensure medical records requests are valid and processed within required guidelines set by State & Federal regulations. 

The Medical Records Specialist is responsible for ensuring the integrity of Protected Health Information and HealthRIGHT 360 electronic health records; Responsible for all aspects of the maintenance of PHI and developing and refining the work flow for processing all requests for Release of Information (ROI) that is HIPAA and regulation-compliant.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to all incoming calls, emails, faxes, subpoenas, and letters from various agencies requesting medical records to be released  in a timely manner.   
  • Serve as liaison for all agency programs relating to any ROI-related queries including ensuring that the integrity of the established workflow is maintained.
  • Ensure all ROI forms are HIPAA compliant and ensure all ROI-related queries are retrieved and in compliance for release to requesting entity or patient in the format requested in a timely manner.
  • Participates in quality review initiatives involving patient medical records. 
  • Review all ROI-related tasks in EHR and complete requisite follow up.  

 

Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Required:

  • At least two years’ experience in health care field.  
  • Culturally competent and able to work with a diverse population.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word Outlook and internet applications.

 Desired:

  • Background in medical records.
  • Detail oriented.
     
Compensation: $45,000.00
Type: Hourly/ Non-exempt
