Job Overview

Prevention & Aftercare (P&A) is a comprehensive child maltreatment prevention and aftercare program. P&A utilized strength-based community services and activities to strengthen families. The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for providing individual, family, and group rehabilitative to clients in assigned programs.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide individual, family and group treatment (case management and rehabilitative services) to parents and caregivers participating in Maternal Infant Health and Prevention and Aftercare Services programs.
  2. Work as an active team member and closely collaborate with team members, primarily in the provision of family-focused treatment services, also serving in adult programs as assigned.
  3. Serve as care coordinator for clients as assigned.  Responsibilities include coordination of all services with other providers and completion of all coordinated care documentation.
  4. Interface and collaborate with invested stakeholders in client’s treatment (i.e. personnel of schools, DCFS, DMH, etc.)
  5. Assist client in developing independent living skills to promote independence and self-sufficiency, as developmentally and clinically appropriate.
  6. Assist client in developing regulation strategies, positive lifestyle, and positive parenting strategies.
  7. Co-facilitate and lead psycho-educational, socialization, rehabilitation, and life-skills groups.
  8. Develop and assess effectiveness of individualized treatment plans and client progress.
  9. Provide outreach services to individuals in the community.
  10. Participate in milieu activities of assigned programs.
  11. Work, within scope of practice, as part of treatment team in collaboration with the psychiatrist, therapist, case manager, and other team members.
  12. Provide clinical crisis assistance, as needed, within scope of practice
  13. Maintain documentation in compliance with agency, HIPAA, and County standards.
  14. Ensure clinical documentation in client records is of high quality including timely submission.
  15. Arrange work schedule in accordance with the agency’s needs.
  16. Attend regular staff meetings and other meetings as assigned.
  17. Comply with agency’s policies and procedures.
  18. Meet expected performance hours as assigned by supervisor.

And, other duties as assigned by manager.

Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Education and Experience

Required:

·         MA or MS from regionally accredited graduate program.  Currently pursuing OTD degree preferred.

·         NBCOT Registration and CBOT License expected within 6 months of hire. 

·         Valid CA driver’s license and current automobile insurance. 

·         Fluent Spanish speaking ability preferred.

 

Background Clearance

Required:

-Live scan DOJ and FBI fingerprint clearance

-Must not be on parole or probation for a minimum of two years

 

Knowledge

Required:

-Culturally competent and able to work with a diverse population

-Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word Outlook and internet applications

 

Skills and Abilities

Required:

-Ability to provide high level customer service to a client population struggling with issues of substance abuse, mental health, criminal background, and other potential barriers to economic self-sufficiency.
