Overnight Monitor - Serenity House

Job Overview

Do you have excellent time management skills? Do you have experience working with a population of substance abuse background? Do you have experience working with crisis management? If so, HealthRIGHT 360 is looking to fill a full time Overnight Monitor position in San Mateo! Serenity House is a new, adult short-term, trauma-informed, crisis residential program. We serve those who are currently experiencing a psychiatric crisis. The short-term residential stay is designed to assist clients with stabilizing the current crisis and returning to the community with referrals. Sound interesting? Key Responsibilities

  • Remains alert and awake during the entire overnight shift
  • Performs house rounds to ensure and maintain accountability of all clients and the safety and security of the facility
  • Performs crisis interventions and communicates with treatment team as unforeseen situations arise
  • Documents client updates and incidents in the facility log daily
  • Performs CPR and First Aid as needed
  • May work weekends and holidays as needed
  • Documents/ logs clients belongings, ensures client medications are securely stored and properly accounted for
  • Will notify  and coordinate with on-call staff in the event of an emergency
  • Ensures all potential hazardous items are secured
  • Appropriately files any outstanding paperwork
  • Maintains log of activities done; attends required trainings and meetings

Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Culturally competent and able to work with a diverse population
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word Outlook and internet applications
  • Experience working successfully with issues of substance abuse, mental health, criminal background, and other potential barriers to self sufficiency
  • Integrity to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner


  • Registration or Certification as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor recognized by DHCS
  • Knowledge of co-occurring disorders and trauma informed treatment 
  • Bilingual
  • Knowledge of Clinical documentation (treatment plans, progress notes etc.)
  • Experience working with criminal justice population 
  • Experience navigating 5150 or emergency/crisis procedures
  • Experience working with crisis prevention and de-escalation techniques
Compensation: $16.83
Type: Hourly/ Non-exempt
