Job Overview

The mission of Lyon-Martin Health Services is to provide high quality, compassionate and trauma-informed medical, gynecological, and mental health care services to trans, non-binary, gender non-conforming, and intersex communities and cis-gender women with specific sensitivity to LGBQ sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, race, ethnicity, and language regardless of immigration status or ability to pay. We aim to address and eliminate health inequities for our communities by rooting our clinical practice in core foundational frameworks of intersectionality, self-determination, harm reduction, and reproductive and disability justice.

The Consulting Pharmacist(s) works in collaboration with the Medical Director, Director of Clinic Operations, and Director of Compliance to develop and approve LMHS pharmaceutical policies and procedures. In addition, the consulting pharmacist shall be required to visit the clinic at least quarterly to assist with internal and external audits.

The Consulting Pharmacist shall certify, in writing, quarterly, that the clinic is, or is not, operating in compliance with the requirements of the Board of Pharmacy Regulations (California Code of Regulations Title 16 § 1700). Each completed written certification shall be kept on file and shall include recommended corrective actions, if appropriate. The Pharmacist shall also develop and help ensure that the clinic is operating and complying to all applicable laws and regulations of the State Department of Public Health and the board relating to drug distribution to ensure that inventories, security procedures, training, protocol development, recordkeeping, packaging, labeling, dispensing, and patient consultation are carried out in a manner that is consistent with the promotion and protection of the health and safety of the public. 

The Consulting Pharmacist may also be utilized to advise medical and admin staff on regulatory compliance issues with regards to expanding medication supply acquisition, storage, and administration—which, in the future, could possibly including expanding to develop a full on-site pharmacy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assists with ensuring compliance with Board of Pharmacy regulations.
  • Assists with the development, revision, and compliance of LMHS Pharmacy P&P’s.
  • Identifies system/organizational processes which may affect compliance and collaborates with team members to improve upon the processes.
  • Understand and effectively communicate HIPAA compliance, corporate compliance and client confidentiality concerns. 
  • Understanding of 340B program operations and compliance.


Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Pharm. D.; Licensed Pharmacist in the State of California.
  • Experience with Consultative pharmacy management methodologies.
  • Excellent verbal and writing communications skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and demonstrate good judgment in emergent situations.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Background Clearance Required.

Knowledge Required:

  • Culturally competent and able to work with a diverse population.
  • Experience working with lesbian, bisexual, transgender, gender non-conforming, non-binary, and intersex people.
  • Experience working with populations with varying lifestyles, disabilities, racial, ethnic and cultural backgrounds and economic statuses.
  • Experience working with clients who do sex work, those experiencing homelessness, people who have challenges with mentally illness and/or using substances, those of with a history of incarceration, people of varying ages.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word Outlook and internet applications.
