Job Overview

The Psychiatrist is responsible for providing clinically and culturally competent outpatient mental health services in an integrated care medical setting through the format of consultation liaison as well as direct support for severely mentally ill patients. S/he is responsible for diagnoses and treatment of HR360 patients in a sensitive and non-judgmental manner, and for making appropriate internal and external referrals. S/he is expected to maintain a high degree of professional competence and the highest possible ethical standards, and to function as part of a care-giving team

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive care, within the scope of credentialed privileges, to HealthRIGHT 360 (HR360) patients according to pre-arranged schedules, documenting care promptly according to documentation policy and following charting protocols and applicable CA state licensing requirements.
  • Prescribes directs and administers psychotherapeutic treatments or medications to treat mental, emotional or behavioral disorders.
  • Provide consultant report to referring provider regarding treatment plan for all patients seen for psychiatric assessment.
  • Maintain productivity standards as assigned by supervisor through appropriate scheduling and monitoring of no-show rate.
  • Maintain availability for various administrative/clinical duties as requested by supervisor. Such duties may include case presentations; in-service training to HR360 staff; supervision of students and interns; leadership/consultation to HR360 clinical staff and management team.
  • Complete encounter forms and electronic logs thoroughly and in a timely manner per the HR360 documentation policy, appropriately documenting all procedures and diagnoses.
  • Meet benchmarks for all patient-focused quality indicators and grant/contract deliverables.
  • Along with colleagues, assist in continuous quality improvement through on-going problem/needs identification and problem-solving.
  • Represent HR360 at and/or attend professional conferences, in-service trainings, and meetings at the request of or with the approval of supervisor.
  • Obtain and maintain BLS certification.
  • Complete all mandatory trainings within assigned timeframes.
  • Comply with all aspects of HealthRIGHT 360 Policies and Procedures as well as all agreements with insurers and other
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor to maintain a high level of patient-centered care.

Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Current California State License and Registration
  • Board Certified in Psychiatry. If not Board certified at time of employment must be Board eligible and become Board Certified within 1 year so date of hire.
  • Current DEA Controlled Substances Registration Certificate
  • Current BCLS/CPR certification
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly desired.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; creativity and enthusiasm in problem-solving
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and foster team spirit, demonstrating good judgment in unusual and emergent situations
  • Flexibility and comfort with changing health landscape and practice transformation.
  • Comfort and desire to work in integrated/collaborative care model
  • Knowledge of third party payer regulations, California practice guidelines and malpractice laws, Title 22, Bureau of Primary Care and state funding sources preferred.
  • Experience with or comfortable with electronic health records, ICD-10 and DSM-5.
