Psychiatrist

Job Overview

The Psychiatrist is primarily responsible for the provision of psychiatric care, medication management and intervention services to the patients of the HealthRIGHT 360 Clinics.  The Psychiatrist will also be an active member of and provide support for the integrated healthcare team. The Psychiatrist may also provide consultative support to providers as needed. May be required to work evenings and weekends.

Key Responsibilities

Psychiatry Responsibilities:  Analyzes and evaluates patient data and tests or findings to diagnose the nature and extent of any mental disorder.  Prescribes directs and administers psychotherapeutic treatments or medications to treat mental, emotional or behavioral disorders.  Gathers and maintains patient information and records, including social and medical history obtained from patients, relatives or other professionals.  Designs individualized care plans for patients. Collaborates with physicians, psychologists, mid-levels, social workers and other professionals to discuss treatment plans and progress.  Practices using evidence based practices.

Agency Development/Support Responsibilities: Participates as a member of the Patient Centered Health Home delivery model.  Participates in the clinic performance improvement program. Participates in integration and staff meetings as required. Support and adheres to HealthRIGHT 360 policies and procedures.  May be required to work evenings and weekends.

Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Education and Experience

Required:

-M.D. or D. O. degree from an accredited United States medical school.

-Successful completion of internship and residency in psychiatry with experience managing patients with substance use disorder/addiction.

 

Required Certification/Licensure: 

- Board Certified in Psychiatry

-Valid and active California medical license, without any limitations on license to practice in specialty

-Eligible to participate in the CMS Medicaid/Medicare reimbursement programs.

-Valid and active DEA license with X waiver to prescribe buprenorphine; if does not have X waiver must obtain within 6 months of hire.

-Current BLS/ACLS certificate or recertification within 2 months of hire

 

Desired:  

-Three to five years experience as a licensed psychiatrist

-Management training, skills and experience in a similar post preferred.

-Knowledge of third party payer regulations, California practice guidelines and malpractice laws, Title 22, Bureau of Primary Care and state funding sources.

-Bi-lingual in Spanish

 

 Background Clearance

Required:

-Must not be on active parole or probation

-Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word Outlook and internet applications

-Experience working successfully with issues of substance abuse, criminal background, and other potential barriers to economic self sufficiency

 -Able to work within a frequently changing project scope while maintaining overall direction and structured priorities

 

Desired:

-Knowledge of co-occurring disorders and trauma informed treatment

-Knowledge of Clinical documentation (treatment plans, progress notes etc.)

-Experience working with criminal justice population
