Volunteer Medical Clinic
Who We Are
Founded in 1967, Haight Ashbury Medical Clinics were the first nonsectarian free medical clinics in the United States. Using a volunteer staff, the Haight Ashbury Medical Clinics saw hundreds of people within the first days of opening. The mission of this new model of healthcare was to provide compassionate care regardless of anyone’s ability to pay. It was during this time that The Haight Ashbury Free Clinic coined the phrase, “Health care is right, not a privilege”.
In 2020, our volunteers continue to fuel the original mission of the Haight Ashbury Medical Clinics, so that high quality healthcare can be delivered to the community. We are looking for volunteers, who can commit to volunteering for a minimum of one four-hour shift each week, for three months. The services our volunteers provide change the lives of our patients.
