HealthRIGHT 360 and Sutter Health Mark One Year of Bringing Medical Care Directly to San Francisco Communities

San Francisco, CA — HealthRIGHT 360 and Sutter Health are marking the one-year anniversary of their Mobile and Street Medicine partnership, which brings medical care directly to people facing barriers to healthcare across San Francisco. Launched in fall 2025 with a $500,000 grant from Sutter Health, the program has received continued support, bringing Sutter’s total investment to $1 million across its first two years. The funding helps expand access to urgent and primary care, preventive services, and connections to ongoing medical, behavioral, and supportive services.

As an extension of its Federally Qualified Health Center, the Integrated Care Center, HealthRIGHT 360’s Mobile and Street Medicine Program delivers care through its mobile medical unit, house calls, and backpack-based Street Medicine. Services include urgent and longitudinal primary care, wound care, mental health care, case management, preventive screenings, vaccinations, lab work, and STI testing and treatment, including hepatitis C and HIV. Patients can also connect to HealthRIGHT 360’s broader network of services, such as residential and outpatient substance use disorder treatment.

Since seeing its first patient on September 17, 2025, the program has delivered 1,381 medical visits and 467 case management visits through September 2026. The team has distributed 6,921 basic-needs kits, including socks, water, food, clothing, and naloxone, and reached an additional 1,140 individuals through outreach beyond those counted in medical visits. The program has also grown from an initial team of four to include a case manager, medical assistant, a second provider specializing in psychiatry, and a social worker, expanding its capacity to address patients’ complex health needs.

“Over the past year, we’ve seen how bringing healthcare directly into the community can help people access care they might otherwise go without. By meeting people where they are, building trust, and connecting them to ongoing services, we can address immediate health needs and help people take the next steps toward better health. We look forward to continuing this work with Sutter Health and our community partners,” said Korrinne Yurick, Director of Mobile and Street Medicine at HealthRIGHT 360.

The program partners with One Treasure Island, Martin de Porres House of Hospitality, and Calle 24 Latino Cultural District. Through these partnerships and street-based outreach, the team reaches people experiencing homelessness and others who face barriers to traditional clinical settings. By offering earlier intervention and connecting people to appropriate services, mobile and street medicine can complement community clinics, help mitigate the impacts of unmet health issues on unsheltered people, and ease pressure on community providers and the broader healthcare system.

Sutter Health’s continued investment, alongside other funding and reimbursement sources, including Medi-Cal and CalAIM services, helps sustain the program. This combination of support allows HealthRIGHT 360 to build on the service capacity established during the first year. As major federal healthcare policy changes create additional barriers to care and increase out-of-pocket costs for some people, mobile and street medicine can provide an important access point, including for people whose insurance status limits their options.

Sutter Health has also expanded its support for mobile and street medicine beyond San Francisco to Amador, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Santa Clara, and Stanislaus counties. These efforts reflect a broader commitment to health equity and to bringing healthcare directly to individuals and families who may be underserved or inappropriately served.

“Our partnership with HealthRIGHT 360 demonstrates the importance of working with community-based providers to bring healthcare to people who face barriers to accessing it. As we continue supporting this work in San Francisco and expand our mobile healthcare efforts across California, we remain committed to helping more people access care in the communities where they live,” said Jodi Nerell, Community Health Director at Sutter Health.

With its first year establishing a foundation for continued growth, the partnership will build on its community relationships and service capacity to help more people access the care they need.
