HealthRIGHT 360 To Participate in Educational Healthcare Forum

Assemblymembers Ammiano and Ting Will Host Event with Supervisor Breed

San Francisco, CA October 23, 2013 — Assemblymember Tom Ammiano, Assemblymember Phil Ting, and SF District Five Supervisor London Breed are hosting a community forum about changes to healthcare coverage tonight in San Francisco’s Fillmore District. Jack Cheng, Vice President of Healthcare Services for HealthRIGHT 360, will join other expert panelists from Covered CA, Healthy SF, and the CA Department of Healthcare Services to provide presentations and to answer questions about how to access affordable, quality healthcare insurance. The event will be on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at the West Bay Conference Center at 1290 Fillmore Street in San Francisco. It is one in a series of educational forums hosted by the Assemblymembers.

“Our hope is to promote public awareness and to help inform all consumers about their healthcare options at this historic time,” said Mr. Cheng. “The expansion of Medi-Cal under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is one of those options for affordable coverage. Providing consumers with valuable information and tools is the cornerstone of improving the health of Californians.”

Attendance by fifty to one hundred community members is expected. Before the Q&A session, there will be brief presentations focussed on the following questions:

What is the Healthy SF program and how will Covered CA affect the program?
How does Covered CA affect Medi-Cal eligibility?
What changes to Medicare can be expected under the Affordable Care Act?

In addition to the presentations and Q&A session, there will be tables set up for pre-enrollment assistance, and representatives from local healthcare providers will be present to provide information and to answer questions. A similar event is being held this Saturday, October 26, 2013 from 10A to noon at the San Francisco County Fair Building (1199 Ninth Avenue, San Francisco).

Both events are free to the public. For more information or to RSVP, please contactAssemblymember.Ting@assembly.ca.gov or call 415-557-2312.
